What else can I say?

So, I've been reading the news lately and am starting to wonder what the world is coming to. Aren't we supposed to become more enlightened as a society as information is easier to access by a greater number of people? I am not a rocket scientist, brain surgeon, or nobel prize nominee (never mind a winner) BUT I know that I am smarter than hundreds of thousands and maybe even millions of people in this country (and so are you). Take a look at what is happening around us. These are real stories taken from MSNBC, Fox News, and an Atlanta newspaper.

EVERGREEN, Ala. — A man and woman were shot dead after an argument that witnesses said started over an Alabama-LSU football game, but sheriff's investigators said Monday they continued to investigate the motive.
The Conecuh County sheriff's office identified the victims as Dennis James Smith, 41, and Donna Kaye Hall Smith, 39, of Brewton. The two were shot to death about 7 p.m. Saturday in the rural community of Owassa in southern Alabama.
Michael W. Williams, 28, was arrested and charged with two counts of murder over the shooting at his home, where he had watched the game. He was being held Monday without bond. A sheriff's investigator handling the case did not know if he had an attorney.
An investigator said Monday that people watching the game at Williams' home said the dispute was over the game, which Alabama won 27-21 in overtime Saturday. The investigator also said alcohol may have been a factor.
According to witness accounts to investigators, Dennis Smith, an LSU fan, called Williams, an Alabama fan, after the game, and the Smiths then went to Williams' home, where a physical altercation led to the shooting.
Investigators said Dennis Smith had a pistol and Williams had a shotgun and fired.
Authorities said Donna Smith was a relative of Williams' girlfriend.
Relatives of both the victims and the suspect either declined comment or did not immediately return phone messages Monday from The Associated Press.

SARGENT, Ga. -- A Coweta County man who set his house on fire while cleaning out cobwebs with a blowtorch won't be charged, Fire Chief Bill Haynes told CBS 46 Thursday afternoon.
Authorities said Galen Winchell set fire to his home on Smith Road in Sargent around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday as he cleaned cobwebs from exterior eaves with a blowtorch. Winchell noticed the blaze when he saw smoke pouring from the attic.
Haynes said the fire was contained to one part of the house, because the home had several layers of roofing. But haynes said the entire home suffered at least some smoke and water damage.
No one was hurt.

FORT PIERCE, Fla. - A woman has been charged after choosing jail rather than paying her tab for $7.45 at a central Florida restaurant.
According to a police report, Maryanne O'Neill, 66, ordered coffee and a sandwich at a Waffle House restaurant on Saturday but refused to pay the bill. The restaurant called the police.
A police officer asked O'Neill to pay or go to jail and she refused to pay.
O'Neill could not be reached for comment at any listed phone number.
A jail official says she was released Monday from the St. Lucie County Jail. She is charged with obtaining food or lodging with intent to defraud, a second degree misdemeanor. If convicted of a second degree misdemeanor she could face up to 60 days in jail and a fine of $500.

I was going to comment that all of these stories occurred below the Mason-Dixon Line. However, I found this audio on YouTube. This audio was taken in mid-October. I particularly like the third person interviewed as she is clearly a well educated NYU student who kept up with the press reports during the months after the party conventions and also during the "times when they had bof of da two presidents speaking" (Umm....They are called debates.).

OK. Before my friends to the left get all hot and bothered, I fully admit that there is plenty of fodder from dumb people who voted for McCain. In preparation for the reinstatement of the Fairness Doctrine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairness_Doctrine), I've also posted something for you. These people are from Strongsville, OH.

Remember, I am as mad at the McCain idiots as you (hopefully) are with the Obama supporters.

Until next time...
