The Chop Shop
An Oregon woman has lost $400,000 after being scammed via email. She received an email informing her long lost grandfather left money behind for her in Nigeria. She was promised to be paid over $26 million if she signed "legal documents" and paid the transaction fees ($400K). She mortgaged her house that was paid off, took a lien on her car that was paid off, and cashed out her husband's retirement plan.
http://www.katu.com/news/34292654.html
OK. This lady is an absolute idiot. She deserves to lose out for being so stupid. Come on! "Just pay us 400 large and we'll give you $26 million. I promise...'pinky promise'." This lady lives in Oregon and looks like the type whose family has been in Oregon (at least the Pacific Northwest) for generations. She appears to be white/causasian. She receives an email from Nigerian telling her that her long lost grandfather left her money - AND NO WARNING SIGNS GO OFF? Did she read the document? "The transaction you have with the Central Bank of Nigeria or any bank within Nigeria is noting but legal." NOTING. What is noting? Whatever! Enough about this inbred.
The moonbats in Vermont are at it again. School officials in Woodbury, VT (pop. 800) have ordered students wanting to recite the Pledge of Allegiance out of their classrooms and into the school's gym. Officals say they don't want to force those students not participating in the pledge to hear the pledge. Students have recited the Pledge in classrooms since the 1800s. The Pledge was officially recognized by Congress in 1942. A 1943 decision by the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that schoolchildren could not be forced to recite the Pledge as part of their daily school routine. Since that time, students could simply not participate as the Pledge was being recited in the classroom.
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,452484,00.html
OK. I understand that atheists and agnostics have reasons to to not recite the Pledge since "under God" was added in 1954. I get it! But, 92% of Americans believe in a "god" and 89% support keeping "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance. This should be a non-issue. Students should be able to stand up and say the pledge in their classroom. Why should they be ostracized for wanting to reciting a a pledge that has been ruled to be constitutional? They are simply expressing their patriotism and love for the best country in the world!
FYI...I learned this fact: The Pledge of Allegiance was first published on September 8, 1892 by the Boston magazine, The Youth's Companion. The original text was "I pledge allegiance to my flag and the Republic for which it stands - One nation indivisible - with liberty and justice for all."
Speaking of patriotism, have you seen the Lewiston, Maine man who lost 140 lbs. to join the Marines? Now that's a Patriot. There's not much more to say about this topic. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,453631,00.html
I can't wait for Sunday night! 24: Redemption airs on Fox and will act as a bridge between the 6th and 7th seasons. I hope the movie doesn't use the same "real-time" tactic the series uses. Otherwise, it will be pretty boring to watch Jack walk through the airport and sleep on the flight back from Africa. Jack is back! G-Night is back!
Enjoy the trailers...
Until next time...

Why am I posting this?
So, here it is...I watch "90210", the continuation of "Beverly Hills 90210". If you don't know what I'm talking about, here is the link to the show on the CW website.
http://www.cwtv.com/shows/90210
I enjoy the show. Actually, I think it is a train wreck at times, most times. Yet, I have it on my TiVo as a Season Pass. I don't know what it is about the show. Is it the memories of Brenda and Kelly, both of whom are on the show?
Possibly, but they only have cameos. Is it the cheesy story lines or the the young actresses who play Annie, Naomi, Silver, and Adrianna as the "new" Brenda, Kelly, Donna, etc.? Maybe.
It is just one of those shows that I have to watch. We haven't had the "friend of a main character accidental death" episode like when Scott (David Silver's friend) accidentally shot himself. But, we've already one character go to and finish rehab. We've also had a divorce and the revelation of a love child from the past who happens to be the half brother of two girls who hate each other because they love the same boy.
What am I doing!!!!! Should I subscribe to Tiger Beat! I need 24 or Rescue Me to come back!
Am I the only one who watches the show? Come on ladies, please don't leave me hangin'!

What else can I say?
EVERGREEN, Ala. — A man and woman were shot dead after an argument that witnesses said started over an Alabama-LSU football game, but sheriff's investigators said Monday they continued to investigate the motive.
The Conecuh County sheriff's office identified the victims as Dennis James Smith, 41, and Donna Kaye Hall Smith, 39, of Brewton. The two were shot to death about 7 p.m. Saturday in the rural community of Owassa in southern Alabama.
Michael W. Williams, 28, was arrested and charged with two counts of murder over the shooting at his home, where he had watched the game. He was being held Monday without bond. A sheriff's investigator handling the case did not know if he had an attorney.
An investigator said Monday that people watching the game at Williams' home said the dispute was over the game, which Alabama won 27-21 in overtime Saturday. The investigator also said alcohol may have been a factor.
According to witness accounts to investigators, Dennis Smith, an LSU fan, called Williams, an Alabama fan, after the game, and the Smiths then went to Williams' home, where a physical altercation led to the shooting.
Investigators said Dennis Smith had a pistol and Williams had a shotgun and fired.
Authorities said Donna Smith was a relative of Williams' girlfriend.
Relatives of both the victims and the suspect either declined comment or did not immediately return phone messages Monday from The Associated Press.
SARGENT, Ga. -- A Coweta County man who set his house on fire while cleaning out cobwebs with a blowtorch won't be charged, Fire Chief Bill Haynes told CBS 46 Thursday afternoon.
Authorities said Galen Winchell set fire to his home on Smith Road in Sargent around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday as he cleaned cobwebs from exterior eaves with a blowtorch. Winchell noticed the blaze when he saw smoke pouring from the attic.
Haynes said the fire was contained to one part of the house, because the home had several layers of roofing. But haynes said the entire home suffered at least some smoke and water damage.
No one was hurt.
FORT PIERCE, Fla. - A woman has been charged after choosing jail rather than paying her tab for $7.45 at a central Florida restaurant.
According to a police report, Maryanne O'Neill, 66, ordered coffee and a sandwich at a Waffle House restaurant on Saturday but refused to pay the bill. The restaurant called the police.
A police officer asked O'Neill to pay or go to jail and she refused to pay.
O'Neill could not be reached for comment at any listed phone number.
A jail official says she was released Monday from the St. Lucie County Jail. She is charged with obtaining food or lodging with intent to defraud, a second degree misdemeanor. If convicted of a second degree misdemeanor she could face up to 60 days in jail and a fine of $500.
I was going to comment that all of these stories occurred below the Mason-Dixon Line. However, I found this audio on YouTube. This audio was taken in mid-October. I particularly like the third person interviewed as she is clearly a well educated NYU student who kept up with the press reports during the months after the party conventions and also during the "times when they had bof of da two presidents speaking" (Umm....They are called debates.).
OK. Before my friends to the left get all hot and bothered, I fully admit that there is plenty of fodder from dumb people who voted for McCain. In preparation for the reinstatement of the Fairness Doctrine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairness_Doctrine), I've also posted something for you. These people are from Strongsville, OH.
Remember, I am as mad at the McCain idiots as you (hopefully) are with the Obama supporters.
Until next time...

The 44th President of the United States
As everyone in the world knows by now, Barack Obama was elected "Leader of the Free World" tonight as President of the United States in a historic election. Election Day should now be considered a national holiday. As a nation, we have shown to the world that we have shed the Jim Crow past. Today, we should be proud to be Americans. The melting pot is as strong as it has ever been. Barack Obama's passion and leadership inspired millions of new voters to come out and take part in a peaceful transfer of power from one politcal party to another. This is the best country in the world. Democracy is the best form of government. We didn't have to disolve the government like Italy has done dozens of times since WW II! We didn't have a military coup! All we did was to fill in a circle, push an icon on a screen, or draw a line to our candidate's name.
I did not vote for Obama. That does not make me a bad person and doesn't mean that I cannot be as happy, proud, and emotional as those who voted for him. I respect him for having the courage and determination to run for President and lead us through these difficult times. As both candidates expressed during the campaign, as John McCain explained in his concession speech, and as President Elect Obama illustrated in his victory speech, we do not have to agree on policy to be patriotic. All we need is to have the best interest for the country in our hearts and minds. Differences are for debates in the chambers of Congress, cable TV, talk radio, and in a forum such as this. But, tonight is not the time for differences. Tonight is a night to be an indivisible nation under God. A more perfect union was formed tonight.

Tonight, the Democratic Party and Mr. Obama were given a mandate to follow through with their message of hope and change. Every U.S. House of Representatives seat from every major city in the country is now held by a Democrat.
It will be an interesting few months leading up to the inauguration. For now, enjoy this video.

Enough is enough!
In the same "bipartisan" light that Speaker of the House "San Fran Nan" used today, I am calling for a deal that will work for both parties while also setting the record straight. This is NOT just the Bush administration's fault! I'm not a huge fan of Bush. I think his spending policies have contributed to where we are today. I'm suprised that his spending causes him to be hated by Democrats...the same Democrats who want to spend at will throwing money at programs like free health care, welfare without the threat of workfare, throwing more money at a flawed public education system.
Before you get all hot and bothered and begin to throw "Cheez Its" at me through your screen, hear me out. I agree that we need to improve on the programs mentioned above. But, instead of creating a huge bureaucracy with billions of our dollars (that will already be used when a deal is passed), let's go after the pharmaceutical companies. We need to get rid of the loophole that allows those companies to essentially pass-through their advertising for a drug as R&D. Those costs drive up the cost of producing the drug, which drives up the cost that is paid by private health insurance and/or Medicare/Medicaid. We also need to attack the legal system and have legitimate tort reform. The cost of malpractice insurance is passed through to you and I and is paid for through the health insurance companies and our health care premiums.
Workfare must be attached to welfare. Welfare is needed for those who temporarily cannot provide for one's family. I understand that issues may arise. Just as welfare is the nipple of Mother Government, there comes a time when the mother should not continue to breast-feed the dependent. Welfare dependents MUST document attempts to improve their situation. No one on welfare is above working at a menial job! Now, if someone can document a permanent disability then I am totally for the government providing a working wage.
Personally, I am for education vouchers for taxpayers. Not everyone has the means to pay for a private education while also paying taxes and ultimately paying for someone else's education. Fortunately, my parents found it important enough and were able to struggle through the cost of catholic and private schools. Depsite my belief, we can't just throw more money at public schools without accountability. We need to have national standardized testing at certain grades to ensure that students have basic skills as they progress through the system. I don't listen to people who say that teachers will then teach to the test. Fine! If the test asks a student when was the Civil War, the student should be able to give the correct answer, not 1960s. If the question asks which document begins with "We the people of the United Sates, in order to form a more perfect union...", I want the student to know that it is the Constitution and not the Gettysburg Address! What is wrong with this! In general, we need to increase the pay for teachers. However, I need something in return. Every teacher MUST have a Masters, be required to be attend continuing education courses (not for additional pay as they will already have an increase), go through a more difficult re-certification to ensure they still are competent to teach, and serve at the will of the school system. Teachers are not Supreme Court Justices and are not appointed for life. If a teacher is incompetent, he/she should be fired. Union power must be reduced. The union can still negotiate contracts, I'm fine with that. But, they cannot act as a barrier to getting rid of bad teachers. In return, school loans will be deferred for 10 years. Teachers begin to pay after 10 years. If a teacher completes 15 years of service, the loans will be retroactively forgiven. Teachers will receive a tax credit for the amount already paid and will not be required to finish paying their loan. I feel that these measures would attract people who truly want to make a difference and actually teach our kids.
Anyway, back to the discussion at hand...The video below is from a 2004 hearing after Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were initially investigated for their accounting methods. It is a little lengthy (8 minutes), but you must see with your own eyes. You'll see the partisian debate. What you won't see are comments from Republicans fighting against regulation. You won't see Democrats calling for regulation and blaming Republicans for the mortage crisis. What you will see is Democrats calling the hearing a "witch hunt" on the head of Franklin Raines, then the CEO of Fannie Mae. The same Franklin Raines that received $91M in compensation from Fannie Mae while leading the company into the "chaos" Pelosi says Bush is responsible for (see quote below). The same Raines who is an economic adviser to Barack Obama. The same Raines whose golden parachute pays him $1M per year FOR LIFE!
"When President Bush took office, he inherited President Clinton's surpluses — four years in a row, budget surpluses, on a trajectory of $5.6 trillion in surplus. And with his reckless economic policies within two years, he had turned that around ... and now eight years later the foundation of that fiscal irresponsibility, combined with an anything-goes economic policy, has taken us to where we are today. They claim to be free-market advocates when it's really an anything-goes mentality, no regulation, no supervision, no discipline...Democrats believe in a free market ... but in this case, in its unbridled form as encouraged, supported by the Republicans — some in the Republican Party, not all — it has created not jobs, not capital, it has created chaos."
Republicans have an alternative to the taxpayer funded bailout. The Republican Study Committee released an alternative to the Treasury Department's bailout proposal. Conservatives are concerned that the Treasury's proposal will alter the free-market system, gives too much authority to the Treasury, and does not penalize debtholders and shareholders.
Here is the committee's free-market alternative:
REFORMING A TAX CODE THAT DISCOURAGES CAPITAL FORMATION: Two-Year Suspension of the Capital Gains: Immediately suspend the capital gains rate of 15% for individuals and 35% for corporations. By encouraging corporations to sell unwanted assets, this provision would unleash funds and materials with which to create jobs and grow the economy. After the two-year suspension, capital gains rates would return to present levels but assets would be indexed permanently for any inflationary gains.
REFORMING A FAILURE IN GOVERNMENT INSTITUTIONS: Schedule the GSEs for Privatization: Transition Fannie and Freddie over a reasonable time period to truly private companies without special government privileges and open them up to real market competition. This reform would 1) establish commonsense limits for their capital requirements and portfolio holdings relative their size, 2) focus their mission on affordable housing only, not profit making, 3) require them to pay an appropriate risk-based amount for the government guarantee they enjoy, 4) subject them to state and local taxes and accurate SEC filings like every other private for-profit corporation, and 5) ultimately provide for the phase out their GSE charters once their conservatorship has ended. In a matter of mere weeks, Fannie and Freddie have gone from too big to fail to too dangerous to repeat. This hybrid illusion must not be allowed to continue.Stabilize the Dollar: Repeal the Humphrey-Hawkins Full Employment Act which diverts the Federal Reserve’s attention from long-term price stability to short-term economic growth. In an effort to fuel the economy, this additional mandate has encouraged the Fed to keep rates artificially low, fueling economic boom and busts, and now a strong up-tick in inflation and the decline of the dollar (as investors free dollars for hard assets). This reform would require the Fed to establish a numerical definition for price stability and maintain a policy that promotes it over the long-term.
REFORMING A FAILURE IN GOVERNMENT REGULATION: Suspend “Mark to Market” Accounting: Suspend the mark-to-market regulatory rules for long-term assets. These rules require financial firms to mark assets at current market levels, even where the no market exists and any immediate transactions would result in fire-sale prices. Instead of allowing firms to mark these assets to their true economic value, these rules contribute to a downward spiral as firms have to evaluate their assets not on the basis of their long-term investment but rather on a short-term mania.
On a side note, I hate that Fox News, MSNBC, CNN, etc. have the "Breaking News" headline on the bottom of their screens! Every time they come back from a commercial, you hear the music and see "Breaking News" flash onto the screen. It is 9:30pm when I'm writing this. It is not "breaking news" anymore. It wasn't breaking news at 4pm! What would be breaking news is an announcement that a new bill has been agreed to and will be sent for a vote!
We need to get this done! I'm confident that something will be passed. When we're done, we'll all sing "Cumbaya!" around a fire at Matt & Maggie's!

Now that's better!
Well, well, well! I can now step back from the ledge on the Tobin (a.k.a. Charles Stuart Memorial) Bridge as the Sox ended their five game slide and gained 1/2 game on the idle Rays with their 7-0 victory over the Yanks. Jon "Lefty" Lester struck out 8 Yanks in a complete game shutout tonight. This is exactly what the Sox needed. With the bullpen getting rocked over their five game losing streak, Lester's stellar performance gave them the night off. Clutch hitting by Jacoby Ellsbury and Mike Lowell, each with 2 RBI, led the Sox. The Sox were aided by the Yankees hitting into three double-plays.
The real reason for this post was to show this video. Enjoy! Now...Happy Fourth of July!

This is f*ckin' ridiculous!
His bench coach should be Jason Varitek. I don't want to hear from any of you 'Tek fans, trying to tell me that "he calls a good game". You know who else calls good games? AJ Pierzynski, Joe Mauer, and Pudge Rodriguez all of them are batting between 25 to 50 points higher than our CAPTAIN. Terry Francona actually put the hit and run on in the 9th with Mike Lowell at first and Varitek at the plate. Yes, the same player who hasn't had a hit since Clinton was in office. Varitek has struck out in 5 out of his last 7 at bats. Give him an early All-Star break. He needs time off. What? Is Kevin Cash going to be any worse?
Daisuke Matsuifuckincantpitchaonetwothreeinningsaka throws way too many pitches early in games. He's spent by the fifthe inning and Tito is left to give the ball to the crappy bullpen. Other than Papelbon, our best relief pitcher is David Aardsma. He's so good that he's pitched for four different teams in four years.
One bright spot in the lineup is Dustin Pedroia. Tonight, DP has 11 total bases (HR, 3B, 2 2B). J.D. Drew had a pretty good June, but he didn't have any clutch hits. The Sox need clutch hitting now. They need clutch pitching even more!
OK, the Devil Rays (yes, I know their name is just the Rays now) are improved this year. But, for the Sox to not win any of the games they've played in Tropicana Field this year is pathetic. The Yankees have struggled and the Sox, yet afreakingain, have not capitalized. Their offense woke up tonight with a nine run inning. Great! Just in time for the Sox series this weekend!
After tonight, the Sox will be 3.5 games behind the Rays and 4 ahead of the Yankees. They need to wake up, quickly. With the Rays playing the Royals this weekend and the Sox playing the Yanks, they could be as much as 7.5 games back on their way to 3rd place by Sunday night.
Until next time....Have a Happy Fourth! Stay safe, but have fun!
This lady expresses my opinion of the Sox right now. Share your thoughts about the Sox...
This guy's a loser!

Oh well!
Let's begin...Amusement parks around the country spend a lot of money on signs, fences, locks, etc. to keep people (many of them dumb) from accessing dangerous areas. Well, one rocket scientist from South Carolina (17 year old Asia Leeshawn Ferguson IV) decided to ignore MULTIPLE signs, locked gates, and TWO fences to retrieve a baseball cap that fell off while he was on the Batman ride. Why doesn't NASA move to Columbia, SC? They already have a space shuttle named after the city. I don't know if he was successful in getting his coveted cap back, but I do know that he wandered into the path of the ride and was decapitated for his effort. That's using your head!

This pisses me off...
Those rules don't apply to this little fuck. He went crying to the umpire when the batter kept switching which side of the plate he'd bat from. I don't care that there were 2 outs in the 9th inning and the umpire wanted to end the game. It's the principle that matters. The NCAA has a rule that states, "If a pitcher changes pitching hands during a batter's time at bat, the umpire shall; 1) Call a balk if a runner(s) is on base, 2) Call a ball for an illegal pitch if a runner(s) is not on base, 3) Warn the pitcher, or 4) Eject the pitcher if the offense is repeated.
Even though MLB told Harris that he could not switch hands between pitches, there is no explicit rule in the MLB rule book. Rule 6.06 (b) notes that a batter cannot switch batters boxes when a pitcher is ready to pitch, but nothing prevents a batter from switching sides in between pitches. I believe the same holds true for a pitcher, but as this has never come up before. My understanding is that as long as the pitcher steps off the rubber and does not commit a balk, he can do whatever he wants in terms of throwing arms. But the same holds true for batters!
Let's see what ruling comes out of this.
On a lighter side, today was Jerry Remy Day at Fenway. Jerry mentioned that his most memorable moment was this...

FROM WORST TO FIRST
The Celtics played like champions and took the game from the Fakers AND the referees. Take that Stern!

Let's re-live Thursday night
Tonight the Celtics will hopefully clinch the NBA Championship and bring "Banner 17" back to Boston. Before that, let's take another look at the best comeback in the NBA Finals history with INSIDER footage from the NBA.
Screw you Stern!
I need to revise this entry and add this note as I'm reading Barstool Sports. Yes, this blog was written after Barstool Sports posted this video, but I didn't see that they had posted it before I wrote this blog. I love Barstool Sports. If you couldn't tell by now, Barstool Sports and The Sports Guy are inspirations for this blog.
I don't know who the referees will be for tonight's game. If one of them is Dick Bavetta, watch out.

A legend lost...
Yesterday, the worlds of journalism and politics lost someone special. Tim Russert died suddenly after suffering from a heart attack while taping NBC's "Meet the Press". For political junkies or citizens simply concerned about our government, the network Sunday morning talk-shows (NBC's Meet the Press, CBS' Face the Nation, and ABC's This Week with George Stephanopoulos) are must sees. Tim Russert's unique ability to ask difficult questions to those on both sides of the aisle made Meet the Press the most watched Sunday morning show. For me, a Sunday morning isn't the same without hearing the familiar classic theme of Meet the Press (TV's longest running show) and Russert's (Meet the Press' longest serving host) baritone voice grilling his guests.
If it's Sunday morning, it will still be Meet the Press but it won't be the same without Russert and neither will election nights without his whiteboard.
When I'm wrong, I need to admit it. I told you that I thought Pau Gasol looks like a chicken. However, after listening to Mikey Adams on WEEI, I agree that he looks more like a llama. I'm sorry for leading you astray. Look...

Until next time, I guess Vujacic was literally raggin' it at the end of Game 4...
Finally, how could I have forgotten to mention this the other night! Enjoy...

HISTORY MADE...
First off, screw you Stern! The Celtics outscored the Lakers 57-33 in the second half and secured THE GREATEST COMEBACK in NBA Finals history in the shot-clock era AND I MISSED 3 1/2 QUARTERS (WORK SUCKS)! Led by the captain, "The Truth", Paul Pierce, our boys in green showed the wills of champions and never gave up after a trailing by 24 points. The Celts ended the Lakers unbeaten streak at home during the playoffs (9-0) and handed them their first lost at home since March 28th (15 wins). DJ, Reggie, Johnny, and Red are celebrating hard tonight!
Pierce asked Doc to guard Kobe in the second half because he didn't have any fouls and was taller than Ray. As a result, Kobe was not able to post up Pierce and was subjected to taking jump shots. Kobe struggled shooting 6-19 from the field with 19 pts (3 pts in the first half) in Game 4. The MVP of the NBA has only had one good game this series. Do you hear that Commish? Your MVP is down 3-1 in a best of 7 series. Maybe Kobe can't win without Shaq!
Remember the link that I sent out before the series where 9-10 ESPN "experts" picked the Lakers? Where are they now? You know what...Screw them too! The Celtics and Lakers have played 6 times this year and the Celtics are 5-1. It would be nice to win a 4th game at home, but I would love to see the Celts close it out Sunday night on the Lakers home court! Wouldn't that be sweet!Tuesday, June 10, 2008

A non-sports post (sort of)
Next was "Two Days in April", a film that followed four players during their preparation for the NFL Draft. http://www.twodaysinapril.com/ The documentary showed the players training for the Senior Bowl in Mobile, AL, the NFL Combine, their Pro Days back at school, their training at their agents' sports academy in Florida, and was with all of them during the draft itself. You can view the trailer by going to the link above. Me, being a football junkie, found the "behind the scenes" movie very interesting.
Frequent readers know that I recently watched "10 MPH", a movie documenting a trip from Seattle to Boston on a Segway. http://www.10mph.com/ This was another interesting movie for a few reasons. Because they could not use the interstate highway system (the Segway can only go 10 mph), the group travelled the backroads across the country. By only going 10 mph, they were able to take in the beauty of the Rockies, the Badlands, and the farms of Kansas and Missouri. With the exception of the rural Illinois cop, everyone they met along they was helpful to them. They needed it as their "moneyman", who promised to finance the movie, officially backed out halfway through the trip after a myriad of excuses why the money wasn't available.
The most recent documentary I've watched is "The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters". http://www.billyvssteve.com/ Wow! There is a whole group of people in our society stuck in the 80s. Actually, they are stuck in 80s arcades. In my opinion, this is a documentary depicting Good (Steve Wiebe) vs. Evil (Billy Mitchell). I really hate Billy Mitchell. Before I saw this movie, I had no idea who he was! But, the person who really needs to get a life is Brian Kuh, one of Billy's fans. One memorable line in this movie from a "classic gamer" is, "I don't drink. I don't smoke. I don't do drugs...I play video games!". Guy, you forgot the "I don't do girls!" part. Seriously, this is a great movie! They use "Eye of the Tiger" and "You're the Best Around"! Any movie with these two songs is a great movie. When watching the the trailer, remember that this was filmed in 2005 & 2006 NOT 1982.
Go to YouTube for more clips, then rent this film. You'll thank me for it. http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=king+of+kong&search_type=&aq=-1&oq=

Wow! A lot to catch up on...
Secondly, look at the expression on his face. He was genuinely in pain. He was probably just reacting to the moment, thinking that his first trip to the Finals could be over in Game 1. I'm not saying that Pierce coming back from the locker room was the same Willis Reed or Larry Bird, but it did uplift the team and crowd. Everyone should just get over it!
Back to the game...PJ Brown came up HUGE!!! If he plays that way for the rest of the series, and if the Celts can hold Kobe to quiet games, we are looking at the 17th banner for the rafters. It is early, though. With Games 3-5 in LA, anything can happen, even if the Celts take a 2-0 lead.
The Pats are in the middle of their 3 day mini-camp. I'm sure that Coach Belichick is happy with his 18-1 Pats being off the radar with the Celtics and Red Sox success. Training Camp is only one month away and then we'll have to hear all about spy-gate and the Super Bowl. Yeah! I can't wait for that! One interesting note from mini-camp is that Tank Williams, a free agent safety signed this offseason, is taking reps at linebacker with what seems to be the base defense. Today, he had a nice play when he covered Kevin Faulk on a wheel route near the goal line and intercepted Brady's pass. Good for the D! Bad for Brady!
We'll have to wait for another year to see who will be the next Triple Crown winner. Big Brown's jockey, Kent Desormeaux, eased him up at the top of the stretch of the 140th Belmont Stakes because he felt that "something was wrong" and the horse didn't have what was needed to win. According to Desormeaux, "I had no horse." It is interesting that Big Brown did not receive an injection of winstrol (steroid) this month, as he did before both the Kentucky Derby and The Preakness. The next few days will tell us if the thoroughbread has another injury. Personally, when I found out that he was running our of the 1 spot, I knew that he wasn't going to win. I didn't know that this would happen. I simply thought that he would get boxed out at the start and not be able to catch up to be a factor. For those who bet on 38-1 Da' Tara, the winner paid $79 on a $2 Win bet.
The "wide" world of sports lost a legend today when Jim McKay passed away of natural causes at the age of 86. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=3430672 Like many of us, my most vivid memories of Jim McKay are as the voice of ABC's Wide World of Sports and for the many Olympic Games that he covered during his career. Unfortunately, part of that experience was to cover the 1972 Munich Olympic Games when the PLO killed the Israeli athletes.
Finally, what is this world coming to? That is all I have to say about this story. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1024512/Guilty-Mother-locked-year-old-son-flooded-kitchen-weekend-partying.html
Until next time...enjoy this.

It's no surprise, is it?
So, 9 out of the 10 ESPN "experts" are picking the Lakers. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/playoffs2008/series?series=lalbos Yes, the Lakers have played better in the playoffs. But, these teams were the tops in their conferences during the regular season. The Lakers lack the size to matchup against KG & Perk. The Lakers do have Commissioner Stern on their side. They also have one jackass of a coach in Phil Jackson. Here is the latest picture of the LA Guru...
I'm not going to make any predictions, but I'll provide commentary throughout the series. I am rooting for the Celtics. I'd be fine with a four game sweep, but I know that isn't going to happen.
Speaking of gurus, it looks like Coach B is doing pretty well for himself. Maybe he was a little jealous of his star QB gettin' some. Kudos, Bill! I'm sure that you've already developed a blitz scheme to cover the package and a 2 DD Deep Defense, being the consummate football professional and all...Foxborough PD better stock up on their cougar darts, because it appears that one will be in the greater Foxborough/Wrenthem/Norlfolk area this summer. I'm sure they know that this type of cougar could be found lounging by a pool during the day, as its prey works. They are also known to quench their thirst with Pina Coladas or Frozen Margaritas...

Finally, I wanted to let you know about a documentary I watched last night. It was about two guys and a few friends who drove a Segway from Seattle to Boston in 2004. The name of the movie is "10 MPH" (http://www.10mph.com/). I encourage you to rent or download the movie, at least go to the website and follow the directions to register, they get a buck from their distribution company for it! It was pretty interesting to see how they were treated along the way. Even though one of their partners (the moneyman) backed out during the trip, they managed to get by on the generosity of people along the way. They picked up sponsorships from Chipotle Mexican Grill and Izze. So, they had plenty to drink and were able to get a free meal when they found a Chipotle. Their next documentary, 10 Yards, is due out this summer. It is a documentary about Fantasy Football.
Although most people were nice to them, checkout this clip when they are pulled over by a royal jackass wearing an Overland Park, IL police uniform. This guy was such a obstinate prick! This guy really rubs me the wrong way! If it weren't for Sgt. Solari, the cop's Patrol Supervisor, I'm sure he would have written these kids a bunch of tickets. Roll the tape..

DETROIT TEE-TIME!
The Celts have beaten the Detroit Pistons to earn their first NBA Finals appearance since 1987. 22 years is long enough! Let's bring the Larry O'Brien Trophy home to Championship City. What a finish! After the Pistons took control of the game in the 3rd Quarter and trailing by 10 with over 10 minutes to go, the Green Machine stormed back, outscoring the pistons 29-13 in the 4th, to show the league why they were the best team during the regular season.
All this, despite Bennett Salvatore (who must be BFF with Kenny Mauer) calling Paul Pierce for a foul when Bitch Hamilton jumped on him after falling for a fake. I thought the NBA clarified that rule when their refs didn't call a foul on Derek Fisher after he fouled Brent Barry. That no call cost the Spurs an opportunity to tie the game. Luckily, the Pierce play wasn't as important.
I can't wait to hear the Garden fill up with "BEAT LA!" chants. It won't be the same as the old Garden, but I won't complain. The Celts were 2-0 against the Lakers this year, but that was before the Lakers acquired Pau Gasol. The two teams combine for 30 of the previous 61 NBA Championships. This year marks the Lakers 29th and the Celtics 20th appearance in the finals. Thanks to Wyc Grousbeck for reminding Stuart Scott that the Celtics are 8-2 against the Lakers in NBA Finals Series. This is going to be special! I can't wait...
Until next time...

I didn't want to say anything...
I find it interesting that the Carmen Union's spokesman has already said that new employees need more than 7 weeks of training. I have a feeling that the union is priming its defense of the driver. I'd imagine that an eighth week of instruction showing the dangers of not paying attention while doing your job (i.e., talking on a cell phone making weekend plans to see Sex and the City). If this ends up being true, then plan to pay a higher fare as the T finds cash to settle the multitude of lawsuits that will be sent their way. I am totally against frivolous lawsuits, but I can't think of a reason to be on the T's side.
Well, despite questionable calls by the officials last night the Celtics managed to squeak out a 4 point victory. What the hell was Rasheed Wallace bitchin' about last night? His expletive laced tirade talked about how the refs were calling flops. Huh? Since when has Rick Hamilton played for the Celts? Speaking of which, I am happy that Bitch Hamilton was hurt in the last moments of the game. Did you see what he was doing when he got hurt? He had his arm around Ray Allen's neck. I'm sure that he was just boxing him out. Apparently, Stern has paid YouTube off as I can't get any video of this, but I'll keep trying. Now, it's on to Game 6. I wonder if Stern has assigned the triumvirate of Joey Crawford, Dick Bavetta, and Kenny Mauer to the game to act upon his orders of screwing the Celtics.
Finally, the Malloys lost a member of our family when we had to put our dog to sleep...RIP Jelly Bean (1993-2008). We'll miss you buddy! You will always be Mama's Baby.

I've had enough!

Now, let's talk about Mike Breen. Yes, Mike Breen is the lead announcer for ABC/ESPN. But, do you know what NBA team he works for? He is also the announcer for the New York Knicks...Hmm...He agreed and was adament that PJ Brown's foul was a flagrant foul. Secondly, he and Jeff Van Gundy shot down Mark Jackson's comment about the Pistons playing "Rileyball". What is Rileyball? It is a method of coaching where a team constantly fouls the other team, with the idea that NBA officials will only call less than half of the fouls. As soon as Mark mentioned this, Van Gundy and Breen did the right thing (in David Stern's mind) and quashed any further discussion on this valid point.

Riddle me this...

So, Brad & Angelina just bought a 35 bedroom estate (Chateau Miraval) on the French Riviera. Good for them! Really! It is their money and they can do with it what they choose. I wish I had enough to do the same. The estate has 1,000 acres, a 35 BR house with a huge banquet hall, billiards room (Imagine Angelina playing strip 9-ball!), indoor swimming pool (Imagine Angelina skinny dipping!), his and her gyms (plural...gymS), sauna and jacuzzi, a vineyard, water aqueducts that fill a stream running through hidden tunnels, and the estate's 20 fountains, lake, and moat...not to mention "cascading stone-walled terraces" that have been replanted with 13 different types of olives. Wow! Bono is one of their neighbors...For Brad's sake, I hope that he's finally found what he was looking for. If I had Angelina as a neighbor, I'd be over everyday to borrow a cup of sugar.
Now, I don't want to see Brad or Angelina talking about the environment. How many "carbon units" are they using up at their estate alone, forget about their houses in the U.S. and wherever else? I'm sure that they will fly commercial as well. They would never fly in their own carbon guzzling private jet. Would they? Just like any other liberal couple, they extol the need to "think green" and then acts in an insanely "non-green" way. Check out this story from the London Daily Mail http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-564215/You-hippy-crites-When-comes-saving-planet-celebrities-practise-preach.html. Did you notice the reference to Pitt's Prius? When have you seen him drive the Prius (where it wasn't a stages photo op)?
Come on...I know that some people will say that I'm doing this because I'm conservative. They're wrong! I believe that there is something going on with our environment and we need to make changes. But, you don't see me out there burning thousands of gallons of jet fuel all over the world preaching to other people that they need to conserve. We need to get rid of "carbon credits". What good is a carbon credit/offset/or whatever you want to call it if you are not actually reducing your carbon footprint? That's not conservation!
On a lighter note, I just stumbled this video. Enjoy this one...

Well, it's on now!

I'm not an NBA expert, but I would like to see the Celtics attack Billups. Rondo and House can both attack him by driving to the bucket (Rondo) and running around to come off picks (House). We need to test Billups' injury. Plus, I'm not happy with Doc's rotation off the bench. He seems to wait to long to pull the trigger on moves. If something isn't working, change it. Don't wait to see if it might change on its own. Also, what is the infatuation with the 3? Smart shots is what is needed. If the offensive flow allows for a good 3 point shot, fine. Don't force up a 3!
OK, now something more serious. White trash rules in Gardner! A 19 year old has been charged with kidnapping a 6 month old boy from the apartment where he attended a party. The initial natural reaction to the story is to feel for the horror the mother was going through, and it must have been horrible. However, with only a half dozen people attending the party, the suspect list was short. When police started to question Jason Bisceglia, the rocket scientist told the cops that he wasn't feeling well and was headed to the hospital. Thinking that he was in the clear and the he'd duped the cops, the Rhodes Scholar went to his house and hid the baby in the trunk of a car. Thankfully, the police picked up what Trash Boy was putting down. Trash Boy led the cops to the baby, who rushed him to the hospital for evaluation.
Luckily the baby was fine, but here is the rest of the story. The 6 month old and his 1 year old brother was taken into custody by DSS (the sentinel agency for children everywhere). Apparently, the family is known to DSS. We'll see how long they remain under the protection of DSS. I will bet that the agency will turn the kids over to another member of the family who will "promise" to not give them back to their mother. Mr. DSS, please check to see if the family member's fingers are crossed behind their back!
What is going on with society? Just recently, we've had the Southie fire tragedy, this case, a 3 year old that was found walking alone on Turtle Pond Parkway yesterday in Hyde Park, and a mother in Jacksonville was sentenced to 20 years for starving and keeping her FORTY NINE POUND 17 year old boy in a cage! Even when DSS tries to do the right thing, they have to contend with judges who have their own moral compass. DSS tried, but failed to convince a judge to turn the 3 year old to DSS.
Raising a child is not a right. Parents/Guardians have a duty to raise children properly. I'm not going to say to the best of one's ability, as it is apparent in numerous cases that some people simply don't have any ability. There are thousands of people on multiple waiting lists who cannot have children and want to adopt. I am convinced that these people would provide a better environment than the low lifes who are the kids' natural parents.
Enough for now. Until next time, enjoy this...
