DETROIT TEE-TIME!

Let's hear it Mason (aka Flava Flav), "DEE-TROIT TEE-TIME!". Or, how about, "BUH BUH BUH BUH BYE BYE!". Red has lit his victory cigar...

The Celts have beaten the Detroit Pistons to earn their first NBA Finals appearance since 1987. 22 years is long enough! Let's bring the Larry O'Brien Trophy home to Championship City. What a finish! After the Pistons took control of the game in the 3rd Quarter and trailing by 10 with over 10 minutes to go, the Green Machine stormed back, outscoring the pistons 29-13 in the 4th, to show the league why they were the best team during the regular season.

All this, despite Bennett Salvatore (who must be BFF with Kenny Mauer) calling Paul Pierce for a foul when Bitch Hamilton jumped on him after falling for a fake. I thought the NBA clarified that rule when their refs didn't call a foul on Derek Fisher after he fouled Brent Barry. That no call cost the Spurs an opportunity to tie the game. Luckily, the Pierce play wasn't as important.

I can't wait to hear the Garden fill up with "BEAT LA!" chants. It won't be the same as the old Garden, but I won't complain. The Celts were 2-0 against the Lakers this year, but that was before the Lakers acquired Pau Gasol. The two teams combine for 30 of the previous 61 NBA Championships. This year marks the Lakers 29th and the Celtics 20th appearance in the finals. Thanks to Wyc Grousbeck for reminding Stuart Scott that the Celtics are 8-2 against the Lakers in NBA Finals Series. This is going to be special! I can't wait...

Until next time...

I didn't want to say anything...

Just a short entry today...My first instinct last night after I hear that a 24 year old with 10 months' experience was the driver of the trolley on the Green Line was that it was human error. HONESTLY! For some reason, I had a feeling that the woman was on her cell phone while driving the trolley. It is early in the investigation led by the NTSB, but it has been reported that eyewitnesses on the trolley have told investigators that they saw Terrese Edmonds on her phone before the crash.

I find it interesting that the Carmen Union's spokesman has already said that new employees need more than 7 weeks of training. I have a feeling that the union is priming its defense of the driver. I'd imagine that an eighth week of instruction showing the dangers of not paying attention while doing your job (i.e., talking on a cell phone making weekend plans to see Sex and the City). If this ends up being true, then plan to pay a higher fare as the T finds cash to settle the multitude of lawsuits that will be sent their way. I am totally against frivolous lawsuits, but I can't think of a reason to be on the T's side.

Well, despite questionable calls by the officials last night the Celtics managed to squeak out a 4 point victory. What the hell was Rasheed Wallace bitchin' about last night? His expletive laced tirade talked about how the refs were calling flops. Huh? Since when has Rick Hamilton played for the Celts? Speaking of which, I am happy that Bitch Hamilton was hurt in the last moments of the game. Did you see what he was doing when he got hurt? He had his arm around Ray Allen's neck. I'm sure that he was just boxing him out. Apparently, Stern has paid YouTube off as I can't get any video of this, but I'll keep trying. Now, it's on to Game 6. I wonder if Stern has assigned the triumvirate of Joey Crawford, Dick Bavetta, and Kenny Mauer to the game to act upon his orders of screwing the Celtics.

Finally, the Malloys lost a member of our family when we had to put our dog to sleep...RIP Jelly Bean (1993-2008). We'll miss you buddy! You will always be Mama's Baby.

I've had enough!

First off, let's get one thing straight. Ken Mauer is a corrupt NBA official. He is a convicted felon who hates the Celtics. http://espn.go.com/nba/columns/hughes/1141856.html There is no doubt about that! In the first half of Game 5; Mauer, who looks like a rat, called a breakaway foul, a questionable 3 second violation, a flagrant 1 foul, and a delay of game warning for having a shirt untucked (with 2.2 seconds remaining in the half)...ALL against the Celtics. You think that I'm a homer? Well, let's go to the tape...Watch the whole clip.

Now, let's talk about Mike Breen. Yes, Mike Breen is the lead announcer for ABC/ESPN. But, do you know what NBA team he works for? He is also the announcer for the New York Knicks...Hmm...He agreed and was adament that PJ Brown's foul was a flagrant foul. Secondly, he and Jeff Van Gundy shot down Mark Jackson's comment about the Pistons playing "Rileyball". What is Rileyball? It is a method of coaching where a team constantly fouls the other team, with the idea that NBA officials will only call less than half of the fouls. As soon as Mark mentioned this, Van Gundy and Breen did the right thing (in David Stern's mind) and quashed any further discussion on this valid point.

How many times do I have to hear...Rick Hamilton knows all the tricks...Rick Hamilton is a crafty veteran. He constantly pulls jerseys, holds arms, flops, and when someone breathes on him too hard they get called for a foul. I hate Rick Hamilton!

I'm sick of Rondo lobbing soft passes to Pierce. He throws the ball 10 feet up in the air, giving the defense time to react. Throw the fuckin' ball!

Despite all this, the Celtics managed to finish the half on a 16-4 run and a 6 point lead! We'll see how the second half plays out. I'm sure Kenny and the other two officials are already on a conference call with Stern and Breen!

Sorry, I couldn't wait any longer to to post this...

Riddle me this...

So, Brad & Angelina just bought a 35 bedroom estate (Chateau Miraval) on the French Riviera. Good for them! Really! It is their money and they can do with it what they choose. I wish I had enough to do the same. The estate has 1,000 acres, a 35 BR house with a huge banquet hall, billiards room (Imagine Angelina playing strip 9-ball!), indoor swimming pool (Imagine Angelina skinny dipping!), his and her gyms (plural...gymS), sauna and jacuzzi, a vineyard, water aqueducts that fill a stream running through hidden tunnels, and the estate's 20 fountains, lake, and moat...not to mention "cascading stone-walled terraces" that have been replanted with 13 different types of olives. Wow! Bono is one of their neighbors...For Brad's sake, I hope that he's finally found what he was looking for. If I had Angelina as a neighbor, I'd be over everyday to borrow a cup of sugar.

Now, I don't want to see Brad or Angelina talking about the environment. How many "carbon units" are they using up at their estate alone, forget about their houses in the U.S. and wherever else? I'm sure that they will fly commercial as well. They would never fly in their own carbon guzzling private jet. Would they? Just like any other liberal couple, they extol the need to "think green" and then acts in an insanely "non-green" way. Check out this story from the London Daily Mail http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-564215/You-hippy-crites-When-comes-saving-planet-celebrities-practise-preach.html. Did you notice the reference to Pitt's Prius? When have you seen him drive the Prius (where it wasn't a stages photo op)?

Come on...I know that some people will say that I'm doing this because I'm conservative. They're wrong! I believe that there is something going on with our environment and we need to make changes. But, you don't see me out there burning thousands of gallons of jet fuel all over the world preaching to other people that they need to conserve. We need to get rid of "carbon credits". What good is a carbon credit/offset/or whatever you want to call it if you are not actually reducing your carbon footprint? That's not conservation!

On a lighter note, I just stumbled this video. Enjoy this one...

Well, it's on now!

OK, we knew that is was going to happen eventually. With the Celtics losing Game 2 on Thursday, they must now return it up and remind the world that they had the best road record (31-10) during the regular season. Although, the playoffs have been different. No, the Celtics will not have to play in the Pontiac Silverdome tonight. But, they will have to play in the Palace at Auburn Hills. You think Yankees fans are tough on opponents, remember the Pistons/Pacers brawl?

Let's not panic. It is only 1-1. It's early. Although, Antonio McDyess may think that the series may be over...

I'm not an NBA expert, but I would like to see the Celtics attack Billups. Rondo and House can both attack him by driving to the bucket (Rondo) and running around to come off picks (House). We need to test Billups' injury. Plus, I'm not happy with Doc's rotation off the bench. He seems to wait to long to pull the trigger on moves. If something isn't working, change it. Don't wait to see if it might change on its own. Also, what is the infatuation with the 3? Smart shots is what is needed. If the offensive flow allows for a good 3 point shot, fine. Don't force up a 3!

OK, now something more serious. White trash rules in Gardner! A 19 year old has been charged with kidnapping a 6 month old boy from the apartment where he attended a party. The initial natural reaction to the story is to feel for the horror the mother was going through, and it must have been horrible. However, with only a half dozen people attending the party, the suspect list was short. When police started to question Jason Bisceglia, the rocket scientist told the cops that he wasn't feeling well and was headed to the hospital. Thinking that he was in the clear and the he'd duped the cops, the Rhodes Scholar went to his house and hid the baby in the trunk of a car. Thankfully, the police picked up what Trash Boy was putting down. Trash Boy led the cops to the baby, who rushed him to the hospital for evaluation.

Luckily the baby was fine, but here is the rest of the story. The 6 month old and his 1 year old brother was taken into custody by DSS (the sentinel agency for children everywhere). Apparently, the family is known to DSS. We'll see how long they remain under the protection of DSS. I will bet that the agency will turn the kids over to another member of the family who will "promise" to not give them back to their mother. Mr. DSS, please check to see if the family member's fingers are crossed behind their back!

What is going on with society? Just recently, we've had the Southie fire tragedy, this case, a 3 year old that was found walking alone on Turtle Pond Parkway yesterday in Hyde Park, and a mother in Jacksonville was sentenced to 20 years for starving and keeping her FORTY NINE POUND 17 year old boy in a cage! Even when DSS tries to do the right thing, they have to contend with judges who have their own moral compass. DSS tried, but failed to convince a judge to turn the 3 year old to DSS.

Raising a child is not a right. Parents/Guardians have a duty to raise children properly. I'm not going to say to the best of one's ability, as it is apparent in numerous cases that some people simply don't have any ability. There are thousands of people on multiple waiting lists who cannot have children and want to adopt. I am convinced that these people would provide a better environment than the low lifes who are the kids' natural parents.

Enough for now. Until next time, enjoy this...

Random Crap

Well, the good news about Sen. Kennedy that was buzzing around the city/nation was too good to be true. The senior Senator from the Commonwealth and the patriarch of America's "Royal Family" has been diagnosed with a malignant brain cancer (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,356745,00.html). It is still early in the diagnosis and a lot apparently needs to be decided as the best course of treatment. As mentioned in the the Fox News story, Arlen Specter was diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer in 1993. After a second opinion, the Senator had the tumor removed. My thoughts are with Ted Kennedy, his family, and his friends.

All of us know someone (probably more than one person) who has lost the battle with cancer. There are many organizations that need money to research a cure for cancer. Some organizations I donate to are the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (http://www.dana-farber.org/how/gifts/) and the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation (http://cms.komen.org/komen/Donations/index.htm). I know that times are tough, but this is when donations to charities and research organizations decrease. If you can, please donate. Thanks.

Speaking of cancer, how about John Lester throwing a no-no last night! I'll be honest, I didn't see it live. You have to be happy for this kid for battling back to do something some Hall of Fame pitchers could not do. Check out this video from a fan.

Tonight is Game 1 of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals. With the Celts facing the Pistons, I can hear the voice of legendary Celtics play by play announcer, Johnny Most, calling Bird's steal of Isiah Thomas' inbound attempt. Check out the green sweater lady and the kiss at the end...

This is going to be a tough series. The Celtics NEED to win in Detroit. Ray Allen NEEDS to get back on track. I see this being a dog fight. I hope the Celts can win in 7, but I'm afraid of Detroit's playoff experience together and their time off to rest up for the series. It should be entertaining.

Two users at a time? I wonder if there will be game about crossing streams... http://uk.reuters.com/article/newsOne/idUKL1967155420080519

Let's get caught up...

Sorry, it's been a while. Let's get caught up on some of the things that caught my attention since my last post.

First, my thoughts are with Sen. Ted Kennedy and his family. I'm glad to hear that it does not appear to be as serious as first reported. Although I do not agree with Sen. Kennedy on some issues, I do respect him and his family for their service to our country. He truly is one of the last "Lions of the Senate". I'm sure that most of you already know about the Kennedys' work to found and build Best Buddies (http://www.bestbuddies.org/site/c.ljJ0J8MNIsE/b.1162355/k.BF9F/Intro.htm), whose mission is to enhance the lives of people with intellectual disabilities. It is too bad that yesterday's charity ride to benefit the organization was overshadowed by him taking ill.

Thanks to Pat Shaughnessy for organizing another successful charity golf tournament to benefit Exceptional Citizens Week at Camp Fatima. Even though the weather wasn't the best, there was plenty of distractions with Bobby Orr participating and the refreshments at the par 3s to keep everyone entertained. Jello, Hawaiian Punch, and Lemonade never tasted so good! Let's not forget the fruit and girls at the par 4 4th hole either. I'm officially using these holes as my excuse for sucking so bad, but I'm OK with it. Thanks to Mr. Orr for signing a few pieces as well. I hope that his schedule will allow him to play/participate next year. Hopefully, he will sign another picture of his famous goal. How come whenever I want something, Jim Dawley also wants it? I think it's part of Pat's master plan! ReRe, thanks for the pic!

The lover of the mother of the two girls who perished in the April 6th fire on W. 6th St. in Southie was held on $1M bail. Nicole Chuminski, 25, pleaded not guilty to arson and two counts of murder for setting fire to the home of her former girlfriend Anna Reisopoulos. She is due back in court tomorrow (5/19) for a probable cause hearing. This story really pisses me off for a number of reasons. The girls should not have been with their mother. The state had previously ruled that they should live with their grandmother. Where is the outrage for their grandmother and mother for blatantly working the system to get the girls back to their mother? What has the state done to prevent another family from doing the same thing? DSS is fortunate that news cycles quickly move onto other stories, allowing them to fade off and continue to not be held accountable for their mistakes. Where was the father? Oh, sorry. I forgot that he is on the other side of the expressway in the Suffolk County South Bay Correctional facility. Mark my words, unless the state forces Anna Reisopoulos to have a hysterectomy, she will pop out more kids (probably with a different Baby Daddy) that we will pay for with our tax dollars. Some people should not be allowed to pro-create.

Another story that pisses me off is the cyclone that struck Myanmar (Burma) on 5/3 and the military government not allowing foreign aid workers into the country. The military junta ruling the country maintains that the situation is under control and has no plans to ask for aid from neighboring countries, the US, or the UN. In a news story this weekend, I saw that one town of 38,000 reported receiving a food drop from the government that consisted of four...4...FOUR 50 lb. bags of rice! The AP is reporting that the current death toll is 78,000 (http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5iy-MfhLN9Q7MwtQ1VlrvexLjr2dAD90N4S302). That number could jump to 217,000 if you take into account the missing. Without proper nutrition, medicine, and clean water we could be on the brink of a catastrophic loss of life! The following few statements are why I will never become President of the United States. If I were Commander-In-Chief, I would order the largest airdrops since the Marshall Plan. I don't care about their government! Fuck 'em! In addition to the airdrops, I'd accidentally work in a few bombers to rid the country of the military junta. The people of Myanmar cannot do it themselves, so we need to help them out. The pathetic UN would not like the idea, but what the fuck are they doing to help the situation!

We saw one of worst calls in NBA Playoff history the other night when Paul Pierce was called for an offensive foul against King James late in the fourth quarter. I've tried to get video of the call and post-game press conferences, but can't find any footage. I'm going to call Arlen Specter to see about opening an investigation. From what I can tell, in a post-game interview King James explained that he thought the referee whistled the play dead as a ball out of bounce. When he saw that Pierce was called for the charge, James grinned and said, "That's playoff basketball." He's right. NBA officials are the most incompetent judges of all professional sports! They are worse than East German figure skating judges and soccer referees who call fouls when a player goes down in agony by the wind of an opposing player passing them! I would offer a theory that they may have money on the game, but that has already been proven to be true. Some people may say that because the Celtics are playing at home for Game 7, they will be the beneficiaries of the corrupt NBA officials. I argue that because the King of the NBA plays for Cleveland, we will be looking at one royal screwing of the Green today. Pardon the pun.

Until next time, enjoy this video from YouTube. The video is the subject of a National Geographic special now showing on the National Geographic Channel. If you haven't seen the video, please watch it until the end. It is truly amazing!

Viva King LeBron (Exclusive)

An anonymous source has sent me a confidential memo that was sent by NBA Commissioner David J. Stern to the officials working the Celts/Cavs playoff game tomorrow night. This is an exclusive and is the only place where you can read it. For some of you, I'm sure that you will not be surprised as to what is discussed in the memo. Personally, I find it appalling.

To: NBA Officiating Crew of Boston Celtics vs. Cleveland
Cavaliers - Game 2

From: David J. Stern

Re: King LeBron

By now, you realize that the officiating crew that worked Game 1 of the series between the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers didn't read the memo I had sent to them. If you ignore this memo, there will be dire consequences. Do not tempt me!

When you look at the box score that is attached to this memo, you will see that the King was called for 4 fouls in 39 minutes. FOUR FOULS! What good is it to have the player we are marketing as the face of the NBA to sit on the bench in foul trouble? How could he only go to the line 10 times? All this against the Boston Celtics!

You, my Brothers in Corruption, have the power to change things with your whistle. All you need to do is call a foul (preferably flagrant) every time the King drives to the basket. Be careful, though. Our brother, Tim Donaghy, went too far and got greedy. Brothers, believe me, I know greed and I know how to make money. If you need a way to make extra money, my people can help you.

I will not be able to attend Game 3 Saturday night. I thought I told the schedule maker to not put any Celtics playoff games on a Saturday as I need to be on-site to give you guys hand signals from my seat. Rest assured, I will have a representative from the league office at the game. Remember, we will be using Signal Scheme 5 for the game.

Yours truly in corruption,

David "Big J" Stern

So there you have it. We'll see what happens tomorrow night. We all know that the big J will get his way.

I'm back!

After viewing the 134th "Running for the Roses" at the famed Churchill Downs, I am a firm believer that everyone must attend at least one Kentucky Derby in their life. The history, tradition, spectacle of the event, pageantry, beautiful people, hats, AND BOOZE will appeal to men and women alike.
Until this year, I had never heard of the Kentucky Oaks, held the day before the Kentucky Derby. Historically, about 100,000-120,000 people go to the Oaks. This was not the case last Friday. The skies opened up and everyone got soaked. Women in sundresses were no match to the downpours. Everyone huddled under awnings or under the grandstands. We didn't care. We were there just to see the grounds and try to come up with a plan on how to actually see the race the next day. Yes, we had mint juleps. They were OK. After getting soaked with the rest of the people, we called it a day and checked into the hotel before deciding where to watch Game 6 of the Celtics/Hawks and called it a night.
The morning of "Derby Day" started off well with us finding a Dunkin' Donuts near the hotel. We scored affordable tickets close to the starting gate and the final turn for the Derby. It was a smart thing that we held off until the last minute. After starting off chilly and overcast, the sun came out in late morning and the temperature began to climb.
Since our group (and the overwhelming majority of the 157,770 people that comprised the second largest crowd in Derby history) only cared about one race, we walked around the paddock area where the horses are brought before their race and the infield. The infield was nuts! Some of the more tame things we saw there were a pair of cougars (yes, those kind of cougars) roaming for prey. They trapped a few kids from Reading, MA. I hope they survived. There was a guy who was forced to dress up in a bridal gown and walk around with his bachelor party. The most memorable thing was probably the group of 8-10 guys dressed in pink scrubs who had taped off an area with "Caution" tape. Across their scrubs was the slogan, "Save Second Base." These guys were offering free breast exams. Unfortunately, my camera was acting up at the time so I don't have any pictures of that. Don't worry, the woman we saw getting her breast examined could have been mistaken for a horse.
As the Derby approached, we headed back to our seats to place our bets and have a few more drinks. We were only a few rows from the track. Thankfully (for me), we were nowhere near the area where Eight Belles collapsed and was put down. Here is a pic of Big Brown and Eight Belles passing us down the stretch.
And then it was over...After grabbing a few drinks and dinner in the Barstown Rd. section of the city, we were all done.
As we were driving through Louisville on I-65 headed to Churchill Downs, we spotted a tobacco store with a unique name. Here it is...Remember, this is Kentucky!

Now, let's get back to some business...What is up with the NBA and its officials? There were shot clock issues throughout all three games at Phillips Arena in Atlanta. First, they couldn't get it to work. So, they came up with the bright idea of having a Yo count down the final 5 seconds before pulling the trigger on an air horn. If you watched the game clock and counted down 24 seconds, you'd think that you'd be able to be pretty close to the shot clock, right? Well, apparently, the Atlanta Public School system has adopted the new math. In that method, seconds tick off faster for the Yankees. When they finally did get the clock to work in games 4 & 6, the buzzer did not work. They had the same Yo with the air horn.

Not to be outdone, officials in the Detroit/Orlando series in the conference semi-finals allowed Chauncey Billups 5.1 seconds to take a shot after the game clock was frozen. No big deal, right? Well, think again! Billups should have only had 4.6 seconds to shoot. What's a half second amongst corrupt officials?

We'll see what David Stern and his corrupt minions have in store for the Celtics this round!

Thursday, May 1, 2008

And we're off!

I'm off to Louisville for the Derby. I'll post some thoughts about the experience when I return.
Until next time...
