DETROIT TEE-TIME!

Let's hear it Mason (aka Flava Flav), "DEE-TROIT TEE-TIME!". Or, how about, "BUH BUH BUH BUH BYE BYE!". Red has lit his victory cigar...

The Celts have beaten the Detroit Pistons to earn their first NBA Finals appearance since 1987. 22 years is long enough! Let's bring the Larry O'Brien Trophy home to Championship City. What a finish! After the Pistons took control of the game in the 3rd Quarter and trailing by 10 with over 10 minutes to go, the Green Machine stormed back, outscoring the pistons 29-13 in the 4th, to show the league why they were the best team during the regular season.

All this, despite Bennett Salvatore (who must be BFF with Kenny Mauer) calling Paul Pierce for a foul when Bitch Hamilton jumped on him after falling for a fake. I thought the NBA clarified that rule when their refs didn't call a foul on Derek Fisher after he fouled Brent Barry. That no call cost the Spurs an opportunity to tie the game. Luckily, the Pierce play wasn't as important.

I can't wait to hear the Garden fill up with "BEAT LA!" chants. It won't be the same as the old Garden, but I won't complain. The Celts were 2-0 against the Lakers this year, but that was before the Lakers acquired Pau Gasol. The two teams combine for 30 of the previous 61 NBA Championships. This year marks the Lakers 29th and the Celtics 20th appearance in the finals. Thanks to Wyc Grousbeck for reminding Stuart Scott that the Celtics are 8-2 against the Lakers in NBA Finals Series. This is going to be special! I can't wait...

Until next time...
